A variety of blinds can be made to suit all types of windows. The modern Roman blind is the most popular type of blind at the moment, but other blinds such as London and Austrian blinds can be made for you. Alternatively, a good selection of Roller blinds, which can be cut down to size, can be supplied.Roman blinds can be made with Standard or Cascading pleats, borders and panels, shaped or pleated bottom borders or trimmed with beads and tassel trims.
Roman blinds are hand-made, with the rod pockets being formed from the lining material rather than using rod pocket tape. This gives a professional finish and ensures that no machine stitching is prominent on the main fabric. To ensure that the face fabric, lining and interlining (if chosen) are secured together and move as one, very small stab stitches are used through all layers of fabric.
All blinds are lined as standard, with a good quality cotton sateen lining. Blackout lining can be used as an alternative to the standard cotton sateen lining, if you want to reduce the amount of light that comes into a room and is particularly effective for window dressings in children's bedrooms. Linings are supplied in Ivory or White. Roman Blinds can also be interlined to give them that "fuller feel", especially when used with lightweight fabrics, such as silks and polyesters. A lighter weight interlining would be used such as a pre-shrunk Domette, a natural interlining, or a Saril synthetic interlining, which is a slightly less expensive option.
Roman blinds are finished traditionally, strung to a fabric-covered wooden baton and supplied with a cleat hook. However, alternative headrail systems available for an additional charge are: Super-corded Headrail: A strung system which has a cord-locking device, thereby negating the requirement for a cleat hook. Deluxe Rotary Chain Headrail: Recommended for wider or heavier blinds. This is a professional, enclosed headrail system that uses a rotary chain rather than a cord-locking device. The bead chain comes in white as standard, but chrome or nickel finishes are also available.
