All hand-made curtains are traditionally made-up with lead-weighted mitred corners, finished with hand-sewn hems and side-turnings.
Machine-made curtains are made up with machine-sewn hems and side turnings. Lead weights are still used in the corners and at fabric seams to help the curtains hang correctly.
Depending on your chosen curtain heading, some of the curtain headings are hand-finished, others can be finished with a variety of gathered or decorative tapes or for the contemporary look - eyelet rings. Top-treatments available are:Pencil Pleat, Pinch Pleat (Double or Triple), Goblet, Inverted, Pin-Hook, Eyelet, Tab-Tob, Hidden Tab-Top
All curtains are lined as standard, with a good quality cotton sateen lining which drapes well, helps to protect the main fabric from sunlight fade and prolongs the life of your new curtains. Blackout lining can be used as an alternative to standard lining, if you want to reduce the amount of light that comes into a room and is particularly effective for window dressings in children's bedrooms. Linings are available in Ivory or White.Hand-made curtains can also be Interlined. Interlining helps to give volume to curtains, makes them look sumptuous and drape well. It is particularly effective when used with lightweight fabrics. Interlinings available are pre-shrunk natural bump and domette or a Sarril synthetic interlining, which is an alternative inexpensive option to interlining curtains. Before delivering your curtains to your home, all curtains are pressed, hung and tied in the workroom for a couple of days to allow the fabric to relax and form neatly into pleats.
